Welcome to Holden Chapel! Constructed in 1744, Holden Chapel was the first Harvard building used chiefly for religious purposes. The chapel can be seen on the far left of this 1767 engraving by Paul Revere (photo 2). The campus would have looked much like this during the Revolutionary War, when Holden Chapel housed about 160 soldiers.
