Welcome to Massachusetts Hall! Completed in 1720, Mass Hall is older than the United States, and is also the oldest surviving building at Harvard. Originally constructed as a home for students, the building appears in early artwork of Harvard, like this 1726 engraving (photo 2). In the colonial period, students including Samuel Adams, John Adams, and John Hancock lived in Mass Hall.
