Could everyday dental devices like retainers be releasing microplastics in your mouth? For his senior capstone project, Harvard SEAS student Owen created a device to test exactly that. The device replicates how teeth grind against materials, combining motion, pressure, and body temperature conditions, to test whether microplastics are released from retainers during normal use.
