Anthropic is urging a global pause on AI development, warning that recursive self-improvement could push AI beyond human control before we fully understand what we've built. The pope's first encyclical, "Magnifica Humanitatis," arrives at the same place from a very different angle, arguing that AI must serve humanity and not replace it.
