The data warehouse gatekeeping cycle is back. DJ Patil traces it from the "you shall not pass" era of early data warehousing through the democratization made possible by Hadoop and other open source tools. Now, DJ argues, we're repeating the same mistake with AI. Data-science-perfect answers aren't always what users want. Sometimes, they just need a histogram: "a distribution of what's going on."
