PlayStation is officially moving toward a digital-only future. Sony says it will stop producing physical discs for new PlayStation game releases starting January 2028. After that, new titles will be available through digital formats, including the PlayStation Store. For collectors and players who still prefer owning discs, this marks the end of a major era in console gaming. Existing physical games will still remain unaffected, but the future of PlayStation is clearly becoming fully digital.
