Thomas Marchand’s open_oura project turns the ring into more than a health tracker by treating its sensors as a local stream developers can build on. The toolkit is written mostly in Rust, supports Oura Ring Gen 3, 4, and 5, and can pull battery, live heart rate, motion, SpO2, and event data. Some scores still stay inside Oura’s cloud, but the repo shows how much raw information can be recovered directly from the device without the official app.
