Anthropic researchers studied how Claude responds when people ask for personal guidance. In certain domains, like relationships, it was more likely to tell people what they wanted to hear, but that might not really be helpful. The findings informed the training of the newest Claude models, which show much lower rates of sycophancy. Read the full study: anthropic.com/research/claude-personal-guidance
